Loddon Shire Council is preparing an 10-year Recreation, Open Space and Aquatic Strategy. A key focus of this strategy is on activating open spaces, recreation and aquatic facilities. The plan will provide direction for providing, developing, and managing our sport and active recreation, open space and aquatic facilities and services. The strategy will inform how the Council can encourage people to be more active.

The Strategy will provide a snapshot of current provision, examine influencing factors (such as population change and trends) and provide information and recommendations to inform future plans for Councils and Funding Agencies.

The Loddon Shire Council invites the community to provide ideas for the development of Loddon Open Space, Recreation and Aquatics Strategy. Loddon Shire Council has engaged Otium Planning Group (Sport and Leisure Planning Consultancy) to prepare the strategy. The Strategy will inform how Loddon Shire Council can create active and healthy communities through:

  • Ensuring the Shire has a diverse range of universally accessible and sustainable facilities and outdoor spaces.
  • Exploring opportunities that promote participation through structured programs and unstructured, social and incidental activities.
  • Effective management and support services, including information, leadership, management and inclusive governance structures.
  • Engaging in active community participation and collaboration to develop a comprehensive strategy that effectively addresses the community's needs and aligns with the council's financial objectives.
